Welcome to the Third Coast Yankee!  I hope you will enjoy reading this blog as much as I have enjoyed creating it.

My goal is to share recipes that I have used for years as part of my cooking repertoire and to recommend new recipes that I have discovered from other sources and from you, my readers.

I named this site the Third Coast Yankee because I have lived on three coasts, and ironically ended up living on the third coast.  I grew up on the coast of Maine, lived for several years on the west coast, and currently live by the coast of Lake Michigan, in the Chicago area.

I was inspired to start this discussion because I know many people who struggle with simply getting a decent meal on the table for their family on a regular basis.  After years of practice I have mastered the art of simply getting the job done.  I also like to think that the meals I make taste pretty good!

I truly enjoy cooking.  My family has home-cooked meals every day that I make from scratch.  From experience I know that any busy family can have the same.

The meals I cook are not super fancy; in fact much of my recipes rely on simple ingredients that I keep stocked in my pantry.  But that is the point: Meals do not have to be complicated to be really good.

So keep on reading, and then grab a spoon, or a whisk, or a spatula, and join me in creating good food in the happiest place in any home – the kitchen.
